Eixenberger’s body of work ’Empty Title’ is defined by the deferral of meaning as an aesthetic strategy. His works focus on moments of perception and always on the simultaneity of magic, disorientation, and a constructed void that is thought as an often humorous embrace, rather than creating rational distance. The works take us beyond what we think we grasp at first glance, upon first encounter, or through our initial experience, and create a space in which the viewers’ individual and collective imaginative capacities are reflected back to them, hinting at these potentials. The realization of the work thus always takes place first within the viewer, thereby defining the reception of art as a participatory process. The works pose profound questions about what art is and how we collectively construct reality in the interstices between matter and spirit, abstraction and experience, belief and knowledge.
